Quitting Cigarettes? Let’s Get Started with Hypnosis!

Filed under: Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 2:10 pm

OK, you’ve not only decided it’s time to quit smoking, you are absolutely committed to a positive outcome. Congratulations! That’s awesome!

The next step is to figure out the method you want to use. It won’t be easy, but you’re up to the challenge! And keep in mind that hypnosis could be your best ally.

Here are the top methods presently employed when withdrawing from cigarettes:

Alternative Therapies – This is the category that acupuncture, hypnosis, and meditation fall under. These therapies address both mental and physical habits that you have developed pertaining to smoking. While some people have used these methods alone and accomplished outstanding results, they are excellent complements to other treatments as well.

Behavioral Therapy – In this therapy you will work with a counselor to identify “triggers” and create a plan to deal with them.

Cold Turkey – With this method there is no outside support; no aids, therapy, or medicines of any kind.

Medicine – This includes medications prescribed by your doctor such as buproprion and varenicline to ease cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy -  This treatment comes in the form of gum, inhalers, lozenges, patches, and sprays. These items will deliver the nicotine your body is craving in a much safer form. Gradually you’ll decrease your nicotine consumption and hopefully give it up altogether. Keep in mind that if you’re under the age of eighteen, you’ll need a doctor’s permission in order to use this type of therapy.

Support Therapies -  These therapies employ smoking-cessation counselors and stop-smoking support groups.

Treatment Combinations -  Exactly what it says. You may use one, two, or any number of the methods listed above in conjunction with each other.

While some of these methods may work better than others, the real question (that only you can answer) is which of these are you going to stick to? And once you’ve decided, rest assured that hypnosis is another tool at your disposal that may address any of your identified triggers and help you not only gain success, but do so on your terms.

Benefits of Giving up Cigarette Smoking

Filed under: Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 3:21 pm

You already know that cigarette smoking is bad for you so let’s not pursue that negative outlook. Instead, let’s pursue the positive. Here are some of the great things that really do happen after you quit smoking:

Twenty Minutes after you Quit
In twenty minutes (or less) your heart rate will start to drop back to normal. (CDC 2004)

Two Hours after you Quit
Your blood pressure, pulse, and even the temperature of your extremities may begin to improve.

Twelve Hours after you Quit
Carbon monoxide levels in your blood stream will begin to decrease allowing allowing your oxygen levels to normalize. (CDC, 2004)

Twenty-Four Hours
Your heart attack risk has already decreased.

Forty-Eight Hours
Damaged nerve endings begin to regrow and your senses of smell and taste begin to increase. (Cleveland Clinic, 2007)

Three Days
Your bronchial tubes are beginning to relax. Breathing is becoming easier.

Two to Three Weeks
Lung function and circulation are improving. (AHA, 2012)

One to Nine Months
Your lungs are actually beginning to repair.

One Year
Heart disease risk has lowered by fifty per cent. (CDC, 2004)

Five Years
Your risk of stroke is the same as a non-smoker. (CDC, 2004)

Ten Years
Your chance of dying from lung cancer will drop to half that of a smoker’s. Your chances of developing cancers of the mouth throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas also drop too. (CDC, 2004)

Fifteen Years
Your risk for heart disease has now returned to that of a non-smoker. (CDC, 2004)

Long Term Benefits
According to the American Heart Association, non-smokers, on average, live fourteen years longer than smokers. (AHA, 2011)

Great news, right?

Here’s some more good news: hypnosis can actually help you quit. And not only can it help you quit, hypnosis can make it easier. What more could you ask for?

Memory Improvement

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 10:34 am

All of us have memory lapses at times but if you’re noticing this more often than you’d like, you may want to consider hypnosis.

In order to understand how the use of hypnosis may be used to improve your memory, let’s consider how memory actually works:

  1. First, a memory is created and stored.
  2. While not fully understood, experts hypothesize that there are three main types of memory, each lasting for different lengths of time: sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory.
  3. Sensory memory continues for 1/5 to 1/2 second after perception through the five senses.
  4. Short-term memory (STM) will last for eighteen to thirty seconds, unless rehearsed in that time frame. (Example: a phone number)
  5. Long-term memory (LTM) is stored indefinitely and recalled as needed. When access to this stored information is obstructed or even blocked entirely, poor memory results.

Now, let’s look at how hypnosis works to remove obstructions and/or blockages with regard to memory.

Keeping in mind that problems may occur in the storage and/or retrieval of the memory information, it is important to remember that hypnosis brings one to a semi-conscious state in which the subject’s attention is concentrated on a specific area, slows down thinking, enhances the imagination, and averts distractions. Simply said, employed by a skilled practitioner, hypnosis can aid in focusing on each memory type, memory storage, and its recall.

It is also important to remember that in conjunction with your hypnosis sessions there are very real, very productive things that you can do on your own to improve your memory. For example:

  1. Stay positive. We believe what we tell ourselves. If you tell yourself you have a poor memory, you will surely create that situation.
  2. Brush up on your attention skills. Creating a strong focus may help to improve your memory.
  3. Play memory games such as trivia or jigsaw puzzles. Our minds need exercise in order to stay sharp.
  4. Anxiety and depression can cause poor concentration, leading to poor memory. Be aware of your emotional health.

Hypnosis Can Help You Win in the Battle Against Junk Food

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 9:55 pm

junk food

noun

food that has low nutritional value, typically produced in the form of packaged snacks needing little or no preparation.1

Junk food…. we hear the term often enough but have you ever really assessed your diet to see how much of your intake might actually fall into the “junk food” category?

Almost everyone’s diet includes some junk food. It’s the junk food ratio to healthy nutritious food we need to be concerned with. Why? Large quantities of empty calories can lead to weight gain at the very least and poor health if carried to an extreme.

So what to do? Well the obvious answer is to cut back on that junk food intake. The problem is it’s not as easy as it sounds (If it was, everyone could do it!)

The good news is that hypnosis can be a very real option in helping you change your eating patterns and cut back on your junk food intake, no matter how, why, when, or where you began your unhealthy pattern of junk food eating. Rather than focusing on the “why” you are eating junk food, hypnotherapy focuses on the “how” you are thinking about junk food. Very simply put, it answers the question of what junk food means to you and how that meaning can be changed so that you start making informed, healthy decisions with regard to your food choices.

And once you gain an understanding of how you observe junk food, on average, within a minimal number of sessions, your eating patterns will change painlessly and significantly. Just imagine craving carrot sticks and whole grains as opposed to those greasy burgers and fries! Sound too good to be true? Not so! With the help of hypnosis, you too can become a former junk food lover with more energy and vitality than you could have imagined!

Overcoming Procrastination with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 3:42 pm

“Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Yes, we’ve all heard this saying before but the truth is we’ve all put something off at one time or another.

Have you ever wondered why? On the surface it seems like you really want the outcome that this action could bring you (even if it’s only to get it checked off your “to do” list). But for some maddening reason, you just can’t get yourself to take action.

The truth is it may actually be one or any combination of the following:

  1. Focusing on one portion of the project you don’t like
  2. Anxiety in general
  3. Fear of failure
  4. Fear of success
  5. Lack of confidence
  6. Lack of concentration
  7. Inability to organize the project into manageable tasks
  8. Belief that you will never complete the task

So now you know the possible reason(s) that you’re procrastinating. Where do you go from there?

Hypnosis is a wonderful choice for this type of challenge.

Here’s why:

The characteristics of the human mind can be put into two categories: the conscious and the unconscious.

The conscious mind is where we live. It is analytical, logical, and based in critical thinking. The unconscious mind, however, is a problem solver. It is very literal and if it sees us as being uncomfortable at the thought of taking action, procrastination may kick in.

Hypnosis detours the analytical conscious mind and may be helpful in presenting our unconscious mind with updated user-friendly information. In a sense hypnosis reprograms the unconscious mind using the tools it understands: pattern, association, and metaphor.

Armed with this new found information, the subconscious mind is free to make choices that are more productive and satisfying for the individual. Now, when presented with a task that once created anxiety or stress, the unconscious mi8nd can make choices based on its new found information patterns and formulate a plan to move forward productively!

Enhancing Sports Performance with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis,Sports Improvement Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 11:09 am

You may have heard of performance anxiety but have you heard of performance enhancement? While both of these may be addressed with hypnosis there is a distinct difference.…. Performance anxiety is that “frozen” feeling you get just when you need a steady flow of confidence most. Performance enhancement, on the other hand, is really the next level beyond. The goal with performance enhancement is to elevate an individual’s performance to peak levels or restore previous performance levels that may have been compromised due to physical injury.

At one time or another we’ve all experienced that effortless “in the zone” feeling. Many people mistakenly believe that the less anxiety involved, the better they perform. Not necessarily so. It has been proven that different individuals need different levels of stress in order to perform well, meaning that each individual has their own zone of optimal function.

Since it is vital to be able to recognize and assess an individual’s zone of optimal function, hypnotic age regression is a great help.  In this scenario the individual is hypnotically regressed to the troublesome performance/incident and then describes anything they may have noticed that could shed light on the problematic situation at hand.

Hypnosis may also be used as a performance-enhancing technique. Performance-enhancing techniques fall into two categories: active (meditation, mental imagery feedback, mnemonics, neurofeedback, speed reading) and passive (audio and visual cortical entrainment, sleep learning, subliminal training). Hypnosis offers both active and passive forms of intervention and can actually magnify the results of any these techniques which may already be in use. Hypnosis can be useful with regard to ego strengthening, mental rehearsal, and increasing inner strength.

These same principles not only apply to individuals in the sports world, but also individuals in the performing arts, academia, and anyone who is seeking effortless, exuberant superiority in their chosen field.

Be Free of Anxiety in the New Year with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis,Overcome Fears and Phobias Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 5:17 pm

Do you have an anxiety, fear, or phobia that you’ve been struggling with? Have you decided this is the year to take back control? Congratulations!! That’s awesome!! Did you know that hypnosis can help you achieve that goal?

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Fear is a basic human emotion that has been used as an internal guide to protect us for centuries, but when it wobbles out of control it can affect our lives negatively. Phobias are continual unfounded fears with regard to specific material items or circumstances. And while anxiety is a normal human emotion individuals suffering from anxiety disorders may not be able to lead a normal life.
  2. All three: anxiety disorders, fears, and phobias are actually fairly common. A significant percentage of the population suffers from some form of fear every day.
  3. Hypnotherapy works by gaining access to the fundamental root of the problem and eliminating the person’s (unwanted) conditioned response to the stimulus.
  4. The number of hypnosis sessions needed to make significant progress may vary depending upon an individual’s history, maturity, personality, and the individual’s drive to be rid of the phobia.
  5. Some of the most common conditions hypnosis may help are agoraphobia, fear (of change, failure, or success), panic attacks, and stage fright.

Let’s face it. Fears and phobias can absolutely impact the quality of your life in a negative fashion. They can hold you back from attaining your highest potential. But just imagine what it could feel like next year at this time if you were fear and phobia free!

Dan Vitchoff has become known for excellence in Mental Training and Hypnosis. His patented and trademarked 33 MethodTM Mental Training and Performance Coaching techniques drew National and International Media attention after being used by Vincent Hancock and Glenn Eller to win Olympic Gold. Hypnosis Can Free You of Cigarettes in 2016

Filed under: Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Without Gaining Weight Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 5:16 pm

Happy New Year!! How’s are you progressing so far? Have you set any goals yet? Identified any dreams?

If you have: That’s super!!! But if you haven’t quite gotten around to it there’s still plenty of time. Besides, it’s easy……What do you want to change?

Last week we discussed all of the categories of behavioral change that hypnosis can significantly alter. A large number of people take a hard look at their health issues at this time of the year. After all, if you don’t feel good it’s really hard to be enthusiastic about much of anything else.

Take for example cigarette smoking: Currently there are an estimated forty million Americans who smoke cigarettes1 which accounts for more than 480,000 deaths every year (1 of every 5 deaths), making cigarette smoking the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States2.

But here’s the good news:

Hypnosis can actually act as a catalyst for positive change when it comes to breaking the addictive habit of cigarette smoking. Not only that, hypnosis can even keep you from packing on the pounds once you do give up the cigarettes!!

And did you know that smoking and weight gain are not the only health issues that hypnosis can help you overcome? Hypnosis can help you with high blood pressure, insomnia, stress, and pain management    to name but a few.

So if you’re looking to better your physical health this year, consider hypnosis as your key resource for 2016.

Hypnosis: Ensuring your Success in the New Year

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 4:38 pm

Happy New Year!!!

If you’re like most people at this time of the year you’ve probably made a few resolutions. OK…maybe you don’t really like that word, but you’ve probably thought ahead just a bit and set some goals that you’d like to achieve in the following year, right?

Do any of your goals fit under the following categories:

Academic/Personal Development, Fears & Phobias, Health, Self-Improvement, Sports Performance, Unwanted Habits, Weight Control.

Did you know that hypnosis can help you address your specific goals with relation to these categories?

Here’s how it works:

The conscious part of our mind is responsible for our logic and reasoning as well as our decisions to take action. There is also another level of consciousness known as the subconscious. This is where our involuntary actions (breathing rate, heart beat), emotions, and habits are controlled. When an individual is placed in a hypnotic state it is possible to communicate with that individual’s subconscious and quickly and easily influence an individual’s pattern of action.

Who can potentially benefit from hypnosis?

Absolutely everyone: amateur and competitive athletes, students and teachers, blue-collar workers and industry leaders, parents and grandparents to name just a few.

Can you be hypnotized?

If you have an IQ of at least 70, are free of any severe mental disorders, can listen, and take direction you have the potential to be hypnotized and even those who consider themselves to be strong-willed have the ability to be hypnotized.

In the coming weeks we’ll specifically address each of the above-listed categories in more detail and if you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for keep in mind that Dan can create a customized hypnosis program to address your particular goals. In the meantime, take your first step towards achieving success in 2016. It’s as easy as picking up the phone!
