Overcoming Procrastination with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 3:42 pm

“Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

-Benjamin Franklin

Yes, we’ve all heard this saying before but the truth is we’ve all put something off at one time or another.

Have you ever wondered why? On the surface it seems like you really want the outcome that this action could bring you (even if it’s only to get it checked off your “to do” list). But for some maddening reason, you just can’t get yourself to take action.

The truth is it may actually be one or any combination of the following:

  1. Focusing on one portion of the project you don’t like
  2. Anxiety in general
  3. Fear of failure
  4. Fear of success
  5. Lack of confidence
  6. Lack of concentration
  7. Inability to organize the project into manageable tasks
  8. Belief that you will never complete the task

So now you know the possible reason(s) that you’re procrastinating. Where do you go from there?

Hypnosis is a wonderful choice for this type of challenge.

Here’s why:

The characteristics of the human mind can be put into two categories: the conscious and the unconscious.

The conscious mind is where we live. It is analytical, logical, and based in critical thinking. The unconscious mind, however, is a problem solver. It is very literal and if it sees us as being uncomfortable at the thought of taking action, procrastination may kick in.

Hypnosis detours the analytical conscious mind and may be helpful in presenting our unconscious mind with updated user-friendly information. In a sense hypnosis reprograms the unconscious mind using the tools it understands: pattern, association, and metaphor.

Armed with this new found information, the subconscious mind is free to make choices that are more productive and satisfying for the individual. Now, when presented with a task that once created anxiety or stress, the unconscious mi8nd can make choices based on its new found information patterns and formulate a plan to move forward productively!

Enhancing Sports Performance with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis,Sports Improvement Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 11:09 am

You may have heard of performance anxiety but have you heard of performance enhancement? While both of these may be addressed with hypnosis there is a distinct difference.…. Performance anxiety is that “frozen” feeling you get just when you need a steady flow of confidence most. Performance enhancement, on the other hand, is really the next level beyond. The goal with performance enhancement is to elevate an individual’s performance to peak levels or restore previous performance levels that may have been compromised due to physical injury.

At one time or another we’ve all experienced that effortless “in the zone” feeling. Many people mistakenly believe that the less anxiety involved, the better they perform. Not necessarily so. It has been proven that different individuals need different levels of stress in order to perform well, meaning that each individual has their own zone of optimal function.

Since it is vital to be able to recognize and assess an individual’s zone of optimal function, hypnotic age regression is a great help.  In this scenario the individual is hypnotically regressed to the troublesome performance/incident and then describes anything they may have noticed that could shed light on the problematic situation at hand.

Hypnosis may also be used as a performance-enhancing technique. Performance-enhancing techniques fall into two categories: active (meditation, mental imagery feedback, mnemonics, neurofeedback, speed reading) and passive (audio and visual cortical entrainment, sleep learning, subliminal training). Hypnosis offers both active and passive forms of intervention and can actually magnify the results of any these techniques which may already be in use. Hypnosis can be useful with regard to ego strengthening, mental rehearsal, and increasing inner strength.

These same principles not only apply to individuals in the sports world, but also individuals in the performing arts, academia, and anyone who is seeking effortless, exuberant superiority in their chosen field.

Academic and Personal Development with Hypnosis

With the beginning of a new year you may be thinking of returning to school or embarking upon some other type of learning adventure. Maybe you’re even thinking about looking for a new job The future is filled with exciting potential when you’re starting something new!

But no matter how excited we may be at the prospect of a new beginning, there’s always a certain amount of stress to contend with. Exams may be intimidating. You may worry about just how smoothly an interview will go or maybe you tend to stutter at the most inopportune times. That’s where hypnosis can work for you.

Hypnosis can be a key component to your success with regard to academic and personal development. Hypnosis can specifically address academic improvement, exam success, interview success, and attention deficit disorder. Hypnosis can also act as an important catalyst with regard to accelerating learning, activating perfect memory and recall as well as stuttering therapy. Hypnosis can even aid in breaking through writer’s block.

How?

Hypnosis is gentle, but extremely powerful. Once you’ve achieved a tranquil hypnotic state of deep physical relaxation and enhanced mental awareness, specific suggestions may be made that will help you achieve your personal development goals. Since your “critical” internal filter has been sidestepped your subconscious will now be able to accept and focus on the beneficial suggestions that were made by your hypnotist.

Wondering who can benefit from this type of hypnosis?

It can aid business professionals (executives in transition, sales professionals, and senior executives), creative individuals (advertising copywriters, artists, and writers), people with highly stressful jobs (doctors, firefighters, police officers, and nurses), as well as technical people. It may also be very beneficial to homemakers returning to the workforce, students of all ages, those who are unemployed, and young people looking for their first job.

Be Free of Anxiety in the New Year with Hypnosis

Filed under: Hypnosis,Overcome Fears and Phobias Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 5:17 pm

Do you have an anxiety, fear, or phobia that you’ve been struggling with? Have you decided this is the year to take back control? Congratulations!! That’s awesome!! Did you know that hypnosis can help you achieve that goal?

Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Fear is a basic human emotion that has been used as an internal guide to protect us for centuries, but when it wobbles out of control it can affect our lives negatively. Phobias are continual unfounded fears with regard to specific material items or circumstances. And while anxiety is a normal human emotion individuals suffering from anxiety disorders may not be able to lead a normal life.
  2. All three: anxiety disorders, fears, and phobias are actually fairly common. A significant percentage of the population suffers from some form of fear every day.
  3. Hypnotherapy works by gaining access to the fundamental root of the problem and eliminating the person’s (unwanted) conditioned response to the stimulus.
  4. The number of hypnosis sessions needed to make significant progress may vary depending upon an individual’s history, maturity, personality, and the individual’s drive to be rid of the phobia.
  5. Some of the most common conditions hypnosis may help are agoraphobia, fear (of change, failure, or success), panic attacks, and stage fright.

Let’s face it. Fears and phobias can absolutely impact the quality of your life in a negative fashion. They can hold you back from attaining your highest potential. But just imagine what it could feel like next year at this time if you were fear and phobia free!

Hypnosis Can Free You of Cigarettes in 2016

Filed under: Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Hypnosis,Quit Smoking Without Gaining Weight Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 5:16 pm

Happy New Year!! How’s are you progressing so far? Have you set any goals yet? Identified any dreams?

If you have: That’s super!!! But if you haven’t quite gotten around to it there’s still plenty of time. Besides, it’s easy……What do you want to change?

Last week we discussed all of the categories of behavioral change that hypnosis can significantly alter. A large number of people take a hard look at their health issues at this time of the year. After all, if you don’t feel good it’s really hard to be enthusiastic about much of anything else.

Take for example cigarette smoking: Currently there are an estimated forty million Americans who smoke cigarettes1 which accounts for more than 480,000 deaths every year (1 of every 5 deaths), making cigarette smoking the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the United States2.

But here’s the good news:

Hypnosis can actually act as a catalyst for positive change when it comes to breaking the addictive habit of cigarette smoking. Not only that, hypnosis can even keep you from packing on the pounds once you do give up the cigarettes!!

And did you know that smoking and weight gain are not the only health issues that hypnosis can help you overcome? Hypnosis can help you with high blood pressure, insomnia, stress, and pain management    to name but a few.

So if you’re looking to better your physical health this year, consider hypnosis as your key resource for 2016.

Hypnosis: Ensuring your Success in the New Year

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 4:38 pm

Happy New Year!!!

If you’re like most people at this time of the year you’ve probably made a few resolutions. OK…maybe you don’t really like that word, but you’ve probably thought ahead just a bit and set some goals that you’d like to achieve in the following year, right?

Do any of your goals fit under the following categories:

Academic/Personal Development, Fears & Phobias, Health, Self-Improvement, Sports Performance, Unwanted Habits, Weight Control.

Did you know that hypnosis can help you address your specific goals with relation to these categories?

Here’s how it works:

The conscious part of our mind is responsible for our logic and reasoning as well as our decisions to take action. There is also another level of consciousness known as the subconscious. This is where our involuntary actions (breathing rate, heart beat), emotions, and habits are controlled. When an individual is placed in a hypnotic state it is possible to communicate with that individual’s subconscious and quickly and easily influence an individual’s pattern of action.

Who can potentially benefit from hypnosis?

Absolutely everyone: amateur and competitive athletes, students and teachers, blue-collar workers and industry leaders, parents and grandparents to name just a few.

Can you be hypnotized?

If you have an IQ of at least 70, are free of any severe mental disorders, can listen, and take direction you have the potential to be hypnotized and even those who consider themselves to be strong-willed have the ability to be hypnotized.

In the coming weeks we’ll specifically address each of the above-listed categories in more detail and if you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for keep in mind that Dan can create a customized hypnosis program to address your particular goals. In the meantime, take your first step towards achieving success in 2016. It’s as easy as picking up the phone!

Diet – Friendly Cocktail Choices

Filed under: Hypnosis — Dan and/or News Agents @ 7:00 am

The Holiday Season isn’t over with yet! We still have the New Year to kick off!! While hypnosis can be one of your strongest assets in controlling Holiday weight gain, it doesn’t hurt to start adopting a healthy approach to your food and drink choices. Here are some tips when choosing your Holiday cocktail:

Have a Game Plan

Decide on your cocktail limit and be sure to have a light snack. You really don’t want that first drink to hit you harder than you’d imagined. You may also want to start the evening with a tall glass of refreshing water (sparkling or not). This way you’ll have addressed your thirst and not be expecting a cocktail to do the job for you.

Switch it Up

Try alternating alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (preferably low calorie). This strategy will keep you hydrated and you’ll thank yourself the following morning.

Choose Wisely

Choose wine, light beer, or simple cocktails with low calorie mixers. One tip: you can save hundreds of calories by simply opting for a diet soda mixer.

Dilute your Drink

Wine spritzers are a great standby in this category. You can use club soda or sparkling water to dilute mixed drinks too. For example, if you like cranberry and vodka, use club soda, a splash of cranberry, and a squeeze of lime.

Skip the Mixer Completely

Ever wondered what makes those calories in alcoholic drinks add up? Mixers! While most cocktails start with only 1.5 ounces of liquor (at only 96 calories) by the time you add on those mixers (syrups and sodas) the end product can easily wind up containing hundreds of additional calories.

Drink Responsibly

Please! Have a wonderful celebration, but please be responsible.

Wishing you much success in the upcoming New Year!!

Hypnosis and Healthy Holiday Eating Strategies

Filed under: Hypnosis,Hypnosis Weight Loss — Dan and/or News Agents @ 11:26 am

Happy Holidays!!!

If you’ve been keeping up with our Holiday Weight Loss posts you’ve read about the studies and seen the numbers that support the usage of hypnosis regarding weight loss. Certainly hypnosis is a great tool resulting in extremely good results!

With major Holiday meals just ahead, how about a few strategies to add to your healthy eating game plan? Here are the Top Seven:

Teresa lost ten pounds after her first session with Dan Vitchoff’s 33 Mefhod.

No Meal Skipping

Eating sensibly and lightly on the day of a Holiday party will take the edge off your appetite and keep it off.

Wear Streamlined Clothing

If your clothes fit you well (or are even a bit snug) you’ll be more apt to pay attention to your food intake out of sheer concern for comfort.

Location, Location, Location

Make sure you position yourself well out of reach (and maybe even eyesight) of the munchies. Don’t succumb to mindless munching.

Choose Wisely

Yes, those appetizers look and smell delicious, but try to make healthy choices: fruit, veggies (sans dip), a small portion of nuts (nuts are a source of satisfying protein).

Be a Snob

A food snob, that is. Scan the buffet or Holiday table and take note of the foods you truly love. You’re not obligated to try everything just because it’s there. Focus on the goodies that aren’t available every day and that will make you feel special.

Trim the Trimmings

Be sure to pay attention to those extras that really don’t add that much flavor, but add additional calories: nuts, cheese, cream sauces, gravy, butter, and whipped cream.

Be Mindful

Really concentrate on your food even before you put it in your mouth. Focus on the colors and aromas, then the taste and texture. Truly savor your Holiday favorites!

Remember: Don’t beat yourself up if you splurge a bit. Just get back to healthy food choices and your regular workout as soon as you can. And don’t forget to call Dan for your hypnosis appointment! You’ll be back on track in no time and feel great!!!!

Prepare for your New Year’s Resolution Now!

Filed under: Hypnosis,Hypnosis Weight Loss — Dan and/or News Agents @ 5:33 pm

There is absolutely no denying it! The Holidays are in full swing! Don’t you just love the whirlwind of parties, goodies, friends, and family? It really is a lot of fun, and with everything going on we’re certainly to be forgiven for not thinking about our weight…or workout program. After all we’ll get back to that in the New Year…right? While we very well may get back to it, wouldn’t it be great if you laid the groundwork now? And with hypnosis you can be well ahead of the pack with your New Year’s Resolutions.

In the following studies not only was weight loss achieved, success was greater….by more than ninety per cent! How can you beat that?!

Hypnosis Subjects Lost More Weight than 90% of others and Kept it off

Eighteen studies were analyzed by researchers in which cognitive behavioral therapies such as relaxation training, guided imagery, self-monitoring, and goal setting were used. Each of these therapies were then supplemented with hypnosis. Those subjects receiving hypnosis lost more weight than ninety per cent of those not receiving hypnosis. These same subjects maintained their weight loss two years after the treatment had ended.

Weight Loss is Greater when Hypnosis is Utilized

Analysis of cognitive-behavioral weight loss treatments demonstrated that weight loss is greater where hypnosis is utilized. It was also proven that the benefits of hypnosis increase over time.

Weight Loss Studies with Hypnosis: Let’s take a Closer Look

Filed under: Hypnosis,Hypnosis Weight Loss — Dan and/or News Agents @ 4:06 pm

If you read this month’s first post “Holiday Weight Loss with Hypnosis” you read that there have been several studies conducted that support the use of hypnosis as a viable tool when planning a weight loss program.Today let’s take a closer look at a few of these studies:

Hypnosis Over 30 Times as Effective for Weight Loss

Effectiveness of hypnosis as an adjunct to behavioral weight management

Bolocofsky DN, Spinler D, Coulthard-Morris L

Abstract

This study examined the effect of adding hypnosis to a behavioral weight-management program on short- and long-term weight change. 109 subjects, who ranged in age from 17 to 67, completed a behavioral treatment either with or without the addition of hypnosis. At the end of the 9-week program, both interventions resulted in significant weight reduction.

However, at the 8-month and 2-year follow-ups, the hypnosis clients showed significant additional weight loss, while those in the behavioral treatment exhibited little further change. More of the subjects who used hypnosis also achieved and maintained their personal weight goals. The utility of employing hypnosis as an adjunct to a behavioral weight-management program is discussed.

Journal of Clinical Psychology 1985 Jan 41(1):35-41.

Marian lost 52 pounds with Dan Vitchoff's 33 Method. She has kept it off and is extremely happy!

Marian lost 52 pounds with Dan Vitchoff’s 33 Method. She has kept it off and is extremely happy!

Exciting, right?!

Now take a look at this:

Two Years Later: Hypnosis Subjects Continues to Lose Significant Weight

A behavioral treatment for weight management was completed by 109 people either with or without the addition of hypnosis. Significant weight loss was accomplished by both interventions. However, at the 8-month and 2-year follow-ups, the hypnosis subjects were found to have continued to lose significant weight, while those in the behavioral-treatment-only group showed only minimal additional weight reduction.
